WeddingPath was launched on Valentine's Day 2005, so we have just reached our first birthday! Almost exclusively by word of mouth, we have together built a community of amazing people (that's you), willing to take the time to help and advise each other. We have always said that what makes WeddingPath special is our members and we want to thank you all for the support you have given us and each other. Simple things like showing each other your WeddingPaths, helping each other on the forums and noticeboards and exchanging ideas and inspiration make the site what it is.
If you think wedding fairs are all about the hard sell and not about your wedding, think again… the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners are shaking up the world of wedding fairs with a new approach. Their Bridal Showcase will include 'real bride' fashion shows, a design room, a groom's room, plus a free 'speed planning' session for each attendee. The event will take place on 19th March 2006 at Horsley Towers, East Horsley, Surrey - check the website for details.
The six-hour TV special 'Weddings LIVE!’ returns this summer on Discovery Home and Health, and the show is looking for four couples who’d like to share their big day with the nation live on TV. Anyone interested must be getting married on 3rd June 2006 between 12pm and 6pm.
Last year’s programme captured six couples’ special day and was hosted by Sarah Greene – and a team of hair, fashion and make-up experts – from the wedding of Mark and Cheryl at Cricket St Thomas Hotel in Somerset. Cheryl said: “Being part of the show made the whole day out of this world. It was a bit like being in a dream, so it’s great to have the video to watch again and again!”
“The experts were wonderful,” she adds. “The hairdresser Michael Douglas and the make-up artist Armand Beasley gave me great advice, and it kept me calm knowing I was in their safe hands.”
The other weddings featured were Lee and Nelly’s romantic Anglo-French wedding; Michael and Blaithin’s stunning Irish Catholic Mass; Mina and Larry’s colourful, outdoor West African wedding; Janice and Oliver’s beautiful Lake District ceremony; and Paula and Barry’s football-fan wedding at the stadium of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
