As you can imagine, a monkey in my position gets a fairly large number of CVs sent to me. This week I got a very interesting one that I want to tell you about. This person started off with amazing potential - he really seemed like he could be someone who made a huge difference. Unfortunately it seems he lost the plot and made a lot of bad decisions in his previous job.

Part of being in relationships with other people, whether it be work or love, is about being flexible and able to say "I am sorry". The apparent lack of flexibility of this particular candidate means that his CV went straight in the bin (actually I scrumpled it up and used it for Colin the Donkey's bedding). So this Mr Blair, whoever he is, won't be getting a job with me.

What's hot and what's not is a common question I get asked. The answer is of course I am hot, and Colin is not. plus.WeddingPath is an amazingly fun little toy to see exactly which websites other members recommend, and tell everyone about the cool sites you have found.

How does it work? - well the bigger the name the more popular the site is. You can get in on the action by going to plus.weddingpath.com. Get great ideas for other sites that will help you plan your wedding and help introduce other members to you favourites.

You can add your favourite sites once a day, and of course plus.WeddingPath is updated continually so check in often for suggestions.

Which wedding venue?

Venue photo

Deciding on a venue is a lot of fun, but it can be a lot of work as well. This week I posted an article by resident wedding guru Sarah Richardson full of tips. Sarah gives us ideas for different types of venue, discusses size issues (teeheehee), and has a checklist to help you find the perfect venue for you.

'Some people plan their whole wedding around their dream location, while others have no pre-conceived ideas about what they are looking for. Either way, choosing your venue is one of the most important planning decisions you'll make. Sarah Richardson outlines some of the points to consider.

Ceremony and reception: The first thing to take into account is that there are likely to be two parts of your wedding to organise - the ceremony and the reception. As regards the ceremony, a church wedding is still the favourite choice for many couples, and most have a particular church in mind. For these, the reception must be planned around the service. Factors such as ease of transport from service to reception will be important in such cases.

If, on the other hand, you're thinking about a civil wedding, you have the option of choosing a venue that will host both your service and your reception. If this is what you are hoping for, you will need to choose a venue that is licensed for marriage ceremonies. This may come with a higher price tag than non-licensed venues, but has the benefit of minimising the amount of travelling involved for you and your guests.'

Dream Reception

Once you have chosen your venue, how do you go about creating that Dream Reception? Louise Hartnett has some great ideas to help you on your way.

Hot Topic

Mands11980 has started a hot topic Weddings Abroad so has earned her place on my 'Hot topic Wall Of Fame', which is currently pinned to Colin the Donkey's buttocks.

Mands says "hi there, thought we could have a thread for all those b2b's who are going to foreign sands for their weddings!!!!! "

I like my new Wall of Fame - you can see it on my profile page. The rules are:

1) You start a post

2) I choose a post that tickles my fancy (as the monkey said to the walrus) and declare it a 'Hot Topic'.

3) When inspiration strikes, I will put all the names in a hat and award a prize to one of the wall of fame members.

I asked Colin if he had a hot topic and 5 minutes later he came back with a microwaved chocolate bar. You really can't get the staff these days.

Book review

It is never too early to book your venue, and pretty much everything else wedding-related. You will be amazed at how far in advance things can get booked up so don't procrastinate.

As always, if you have a question that you would like me to answer, drop me a line and I will do my best to help. My email is margo@weddingpath.com. If you would like me to come to your wedding, and/or honeymoon, please check out the about me section on my profile page to see my schedule and leave a message on my notice board if I am available.

Have a wonderful week.

Love and apples!!!
