Which jewellery for which wedding dress? 2173 views

Strapless dress
The neckline on a strapless dress really is a blank canvas when it comes to choosing your jewellery – almost any style of jewellery has the potential to complement it. What you do need to bear in mind, however, is the level of detailing on your gown. With an unembellished dress you can pretty much get away with any jewellery you like. By contrast, my suggestion for a heavily embroidered dress would be not to wear a necklace but to go for a pair of statement earrings with a matching bracelet instead. (Crystal Cluster Earrings, £36, and Ivory Boudoir Bracelet, £34)

Spaghetti-strap dress
The delicate straps are a key feature of this style of dress so it’s important to choose a necklace which complements them rather than distracting from them. I love teaming spaghetti-strap dresses with delicate pendant necklaces and earrings. (Edwardian Necklace, £42, and Edwardian Earrings, £38)

Halterneck dress
I think halterneck dresses work best when worn without a necklace so as not to distract from the plunging neckline. Go for a pair of sparkly statement earrings and a chunky bracelet instead. However, there is also a huge trend for back jewellery at the moment, so if your dress has a low back, what better way to show it off than with a crystal-encrusted lariat? It will certainly give your guests something sparkly to look at during the ceremony! (Faceted Crystal Lariat, £88, and Ivory Roma Pearl Bracelet, £34)

Off-the-shoulder dress
There is a lot of décolletage on show with this style of dress so there is not too much embellished fabric for jewellery to compete with and you can go for whatever style of jewellery takes your fancy. However, always remember the golden rule and bear in mind the level of detail on the dress. For a very simple dress with little or no embroidery, I would recommend a delicate necklace teamed with matching earrings to complement the simplicity of the top of the dress. (Verona Pearl Necklace, £42, and Ivory Elegance Bracelet, £30)

Scoop-neck dress

This is another extremely versatile choice when it comes to choosing your wedding jewellery as all necklace shapes have the potential to complement it. My favourite option for a scoop-neck dress would be to go girly with a fabulously pretty freshwater pearl necklace teamed with a matching bracelet. This should complete your wedding look perfectly. (Ivory Tutti Frutti Necklace, £48, and Ivory Tutti Frutti Bracelet, £38)

Sweetheart dress

A sweetheart neckline is almost an accessory in itself, so be careful not to add too much jewellery. My top tip for this style of dress would be to go for a pendant necklace that mirrors the shape of the neckline, plus matching earrings. Alternatively, forget the necklace altogether and go all-out on big statement earrings and a chunky bracelet instead. (Vine Necklace, £46, and Vine Earrings, £45)
