Texan woman has wedding cake sculpted in her own likeness 439 views
In what may be considered the ultimate show of vanity, Chidi Ogbuta of Allen, Texas had her wedding cake made out in her complete likeness. The cake, which is a full-sized likeness of Chidi was 1.5m (5”) tall and took five weeks to complete. It took four men to carry it to the venue of the wedding reception.
The resulting butter-cream creation, which became the centrepiece of the ceremony in Dallas, Texas, weighed 180kg (400lb) and contained 200 eggs and 7.5litres of amaretto. The body, head and arms were formed from clay.
Mrs Ogbuta, 35, was understood to be very pleased with the likeness of the lavish cake and was the first to take a slice out of herself. Her new husband, Innocent, who had a major role in organising the very elaborate wedding present also had a go at cutting into it.
Speaking about her cake, Mrs Ogbuta said; “Growing up, I always wanted a doll made in my likeness, I told Innocent I wanted a life-size cake made in my resemblance as I would look on my wedding day.”
“I searched for months to find someone who'd make my dream come true. Originally the plan was for two cakes – one of me and one of Innocent.”
Unfortunately, it took five weeks to make and we ran out of time,” she added.
The finally of the ceremony saw the newlyweds taken away in a white horse-drawn carriage, complete with white horse and traditional driver. This completed their “unique, personalised wedding”, something Ogbuta had specifically asked the groom for.
