State of New Jersey sues wedding photo company 560 views
A wedding photography company in New Jersey will be forced to explain why they allegedly left hundreds of newly wed couples without contracted and paid-for wedding photographs, videos and other image presentation packages.
Celebration Studios, Inc had a suit filed against them on Tuesday by the New Jersey Attorney General's office and Division of Consumer Affairs in State Superior Court in Morris County, according to a statement.
The state's complaint alleges that the wedding photography company failed to provide services after being paid in kind by customers in advance of their wedding. The suit also alleges that Celebration Studios charged customers credit cards without permission and misled consumers to believe the company was undergoing a restructuring, when it was actually in the process of closing down.
Attorney General Anne Milgram told WNBC; "We have close to 600 consumers who are distraught because they did not receive the photos, videos and other visual keepsakes of their weddings."
“We want these consumers to get their wedding albums and for the defendants to be held accountable," she added.
Celebration Studios will face a civil penalty that could exceed $10,000 for the initial violation and up to $20,000 for each action brought subsequently, if found to be guilty.
