My Hen Weekend by Lesley Clyde
Part 1- Tenerife!!! Organised by Kirralee (bridesmaid)
Firstly let me say the only involvement I had was giving Kirra a list of people who I would like to join me on my “hen” and their emails.
Friday. My day started at 8.30 when I got a train to Smithfield in London with Michelle. We were heading for “The Cock”, an aptly named pub, for a champagne breakfast (bacon roll and a pint). Two of my friends Laura and Steph, joined us there following their night shift along with a load of work buddies. We were then joined by Vickie who had also been working in the wee hours of the morning. We then jumped on the tube to Victoria where we met up with Elena (who couldn’t get out of bed in time to meet us for brekkie) before getting on the Gatwick Express.
At Gatwick we met up with the rest of the gang- Kirra, Debs, Izzy and Mel making our party a total of 10!
During the flight the atmosphere was building the girls where all getting to know one another over Champagne.

We touch down about 1800 and our private transfers are waiting to take us to Sheraton la Caleta, the most amazingly plush hotel I have seen. We sort out the sleeping arrangements and head straight or the bar!! After a swift cocktail we all freshen up and head a short walk up the road to El Toro , very friendly “locals” restaurant who were not prepared for 10 “beautiful ladies” in their company, we did attract a lot of attention from the over 60’s!! We had a beautiful meal and a few glasses of wine and some animated conversation before heading back to the hotel for a night cap. The bar unfortunately was closing so resigned ourselves to an early night in preparation for the main session on Saturday. So off we went to our rooms when suddenly there was a loud rap at the door, I opened cautiously to Steph and Laura shouting get your shoes on there’s a cab waiting, So the four of us (including Elena) are heading to Veronicas in Playa de las Americas. We get a deal from a rep and head into O’Neill’s. Tenerife is not very busy at this time of year so we more or less had the bar to ourselves which was pretty good in the way the DJ only played our requests and we were able to muck about!

We eventually got back to the hotel at 0400!! I’m getting a bit old for that type of partying!!
Saturday- Managed to drag myself up in time for breakfast and what a wonderful array of food choices to be devoured from eggs and bacon, omelettes, to pan au chocolat and fresh fruit to waffles and pancakes mmmmmmm. Drank lots of water and coffee and soon I was ready or a day of relaxation and pampering. The complex was a spa hotel and I was so looking forward to my oshadi wrap and body toner massage which was booked for 1200 so I had an hour and a half by the pool chatting about the night before and catching some rays…..28 degrees c feeling hot hot hot!!!.
The massage was wonderful and the wrap left my skin feeling so nourished, although the masseuse left me feeling glad I’d had a wax (ahem!!!). After making use of the rest of spa facilities (sauna steam and hydra pools) I joined the rest of the girls at the pool bar for a few spritzers and we arranged to meet in my room for “the dressing of the bride” at eight o’clock.

Eight o’clock I think I got away quite lightly
We went for a meal in American Dreamz diner in Playa de Las Americas, and during the meal I was given a beautiful hand crafted bag of goodies with every thing I should need for the night and my forthcoming marriage including crotch less panties and chocolate spread.

After the meal we headed off to the bars and clubs of the strip. It was a little busier that the previous night but the reps fighting for our custom where offering “booze deals” for as little as 10 euros each, which made for a rather inexpensive night out as this deal had enough drinks to last us all night!!! The usual mickey taking by the DJ ensued and found himself rather taken with my crotch less panties, hee hee.

We were then joined by a stag party where the stag was Batman and was being pursued by about 15 Robins. A great laugh was had by all but when the clothes swapping started everyone was in hysterics.

Me as a robin!!

The robin as the bride!!!!
As the hours went on our party numbers dwindled but I managed for the first time ever to “dance till dawn”.

And still standing!!!0600 hours!!
Still managed to get up or breakfast and make our 1200 check out and we relaxed around the pool until our transfer arrived to take us back to the airport. During the transfer we were having a laugh and a joke about forgetting things on holidays then one of the girls laughs and says ‘yeah like leaving your passport in a random drawer’, suddenly the colour drains out of Laura’s face who clearly remembers exactly where her passport is and it wasn’t in her bag!!!!!. No amount of pleading could persuade the apologetic driver to return to the hotel for the passport as there was a fiesta happening at the top of the road and they wouldn’t let the coach turn around. Eventually we got the passport dispatched by the hotel in a cab and Laura’s colour returned along with her passport.
A couple of hours shopping at the airport before boarding left me ready for few zzzzz’s on the four hour flight.
A great time was had by all and by me especially. Thanks girls!
Watch out for part 2 the London Hen Night!!!!
