Orla & Jesus
6 October 2007
They Met Orla and Jesus were introduced in February 2000 by a friend, who later became their best man, during a carnival in Cadiz in southwest Spain, where they now live.
Wedding Venue The ceremony was held in San Antonio Church, Cadiz, followed by a reception at Hotel Bahia Sur, San Fernando.
The Theme The couple used burgundy to tie everything together. Orla’s brother designed the invitations and they used the same design for all their stationery.
What They Wore Orla’s dress was from Forever Yours – but she bought it in a second hand charity shop in Ireland for 10 Euro! Jesus bought his suit from Massimo Dutti and wore a silver-coloured waitcoat and burgundy tie. Orla had one bridesmaid who wore her own summer dress.
The Cake A sponge cake was provided by the hotel as they don’t tend to have fruit cake in Spain. The guests all said it was delicious, although Orla didn’t get a chance to try it!
A Moment to Remember Orla and Jesus’ favourite moment was their best man’s speech. Orla says, “It was very touching.”
First Dance The couple had two dances; the first was I Will by the Beatles, then in Spanish Orla and Jesus danced to Noche de Bodas, which means “wedding night” by Joaquin Sabina.
Honeymoon
Orla and Jesus went to Riviera Maya in Mexico. Orla says, “We had a fantastic time and would recommend it to anyone thinking of going to Mexico for their honeymoon.”
Any advice?
“I couldn’t have done without WP,” says Orla. “Without the advice from all the girls and having my own site for the people coming from abroad, I couldn’t have pulled it off! Thanks, girls!”
