WEDDING GOSSIP Girl in a White Dress 17 10508 views
What now?
Our resident bride and wedding expert, Cheryl, is back from her big day and floating on a wedding-induced cloud of loveliness, and will be talking weddings with you every week...
I don’t want to harp on but it’s been well over four weeks since I said ‘I do’ and, frankly, I’m not sure what to do with my life now.
I know I must stop looking at the photos my friends have posted on Facebook – eventually – and I’ve got it down to just two looks a day. Well, alright, three. But I’m worried that I could be addicted to it.
I think partly it’s because I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to seeing myself in a big white dress with a veil and sparkly tiara. And I think that’s because everyone at our wedding had the whole day to become accustomed to the idea whereas I just caught glimpses of myself in the bathroom mirror or a reflection in the car window throughout the day.
So it’s probably just as well that we don’t get the official photos back for a while otherwise I genuinely don’t think I’d leave the house for a week.
I’ve really enjoyed changing my name on all my bank cards, Boots card, Nectar card, library card – basically, anything that even slightly resembles something official now bears my new name. And I LOVE it when people refer to me as Mrs. I have also used every opportunity over the past few weeks to say ‘my husband’ whenever I get the chance. To the bemusement of our local shopkeeper who wasn’t the slightest bit interested whether my husband preferred white bread or brown.
But since the wedding, while it’s nice not to worry so much about my chocolate consumption levels or my notable absence from the gym, I do miss poring over wedding mags and writing lists. So this week, I was wondering what everyone was doing, post-wedding, to keep themselves occupied. Maybe it’s opening your gifts and writing thank-you cards or, like me, obsessively gazing at your photos on a daily basis. Let me know! And of course, if your big day's only weeks or even days away, I hope it goes well and look forward to seeing all your pics, too!
Until next week, I will be mainly doodling my new signature on every available surface and maybe doing a bit of light housework to pass the time…
