Barbara's top tips
I’ve known so many brides that have sat up till the early hours during the week before the wedding, tying napkins and sorting out the name cards and favours. Try to delegate these tasks if you can. And be organised! Collect shoe boxes – one per table. Then put favours, cameras, name cards etc for each table into a separate box. Keep the boxes, and ask someone to collect any keepsakes from each table. You spend so long choosing and designing the extra touches and most guests forget to get one saved for them!

Nice idea...
On the Q&A forum, we were asked about timings. Obviously, they're very important!! My advice is to start at the wedding time and work up and down your list. Ring each supplier and ask how long they'll need. For example, people always think around 40mins for photographs when in fact they need that and another hour!!

Day in the life of a wedding planner
Started off the day with lots of emails – the most important being from a bride marrying in a couple of week's time. She’s discovered the venue have changed their chairs and the covers she’s ordered no longer fit. I’ve been to the venue, measured the new chairs and phoned around suppliers. I have managed to find a supplier that can help and has honoured the same price – what a relief! Chairs do vary in size so make sure you take measurements – better still try a cover to make sure.

Then, when doing a mock drive of the route from the church to the reception, I discovered a low bridge - too low for the vintage bus booked to transport the guests to the reception! So spent the rest of the morning trying to find another quick, suitable alternative route before needing to break the news to the bride and groom! It always pays to have a dummy transport run.

And finally...
