Welsh bride, Michelle Smith, and her father climbed into a luxury Bentley limo to get to Michelle's wedding at St Gwladys Church in Bargoed. They only got a minute down the road before the car broke down. To make matters worse the driver couldn't contact his colleague who was driving the second wedding car. The Bentley had come to a standstill outside a local car dealership and the bride's Dad, Mike Williams, was sent in to explain the situation and to try and borrow a car. On his way into the dealership, Mike saw a friend in her Citroen Picasso and hitched a lift for himself and Michelle. They made it to the church - 20 minutes late, and were met by a very nervous groom. From then on though all went well. The couple went on to honeymoon in Dubai and the Maldives.

After all, it is all about you and your partner so you should celebrate in whatever manner suits you. In the past i've blogged about nude weddings, Star Trek weddings and pirate weddings and today I am going to tell you about a Viking wedding...
In San Diego, 70 year old, Nils Andersson married his 64-year-old sweet heart Carol Hartman in an unusual ceremony. The groom, in horned hat and leather tunic, plus several Viking friends sailed a 'longboat' into dock and stormed the beach. Nils scanned the crowed for a suitable 'wench' and spotted Carol who was wearing a white dress with red accents and with flowers woven into her hair. Nils marched up to her and used quite possibly the cheesiest pick-up line ever - "Let's go down to my longboat and check out my horns". It got a great laugh from the other guests though, and had the desired effect - Carol said "yes". Gags with fake chopped off feet ensued, followed by more traditional vows and swapping of rings to round off the ceremony. The bride and groom asked that, in lieu of gifts, guests contribute to chairty. The couple travelled to Sweden to honeymoon - in a boat of course!
It might not be your cup of tea, but you can't deny that Nils and Carol made their wedding day a unique event. Good luck to them.

George Takei, who played Lt Sulu in the original Star Trek, is going to marry his boyfriend Brad Altman. The couple have been together for 21 years and finally, thanks to the recent change in California law, can wed. Takei was planning on proposing to Brad, but was pipped at the post when Brad got down on one knee and asked him first.
Takei, 51, said he and business partner Altman would have married years ago had they been allowed to. They are planning to marry sometime after mid-June and definitely before November.
