  • Donkey song divorce at a wedding 11381 views

    Wedding Path Newswire

At a wedding reception in the Syrian city of Latakia a newly married husband divorced his wife as she had insulted him.

The bride had chosen the Arabic song "I love you, my little donkey" for their first dance as husband and wife. She then proceeded to sing along, and call her husband a donkey several times. Her husband didn't find this amusing so asked the DJ to change the record, but the DJ refused to as the bride had especially requested the donkey song.

The husband grabbed the DJ's microphone and shouted out "talaq" three times. "Talaq" means "I divorce you" and Under Sunni Islamic law a husband may divorce his wife by repeating the word three times.

According to wikipedia "The Triple talaq practice is banned by law in many nations, including Turkey, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Iran, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. India still permits it."

  • Brad and Angelina's wedding upset 10708 views

    Wedding Path Newswire

Some of the papers are reporting that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been fighting over their wedding plans. Evidently Angelina favours a smaller affair, while Brad would like to have a big bash in New Orleans. Angelina would like to marry in France where her late mother's family was from. There are stories of tears and slammed doors.

WeddingMouth feels uncomfortable reporting on this 'news', after all it is a very private affair between two people in love. I think it does help to show that even people who are portrayed by the media as having perfect lives are human too. It should remind us that planning a wedding is stressful and, let's face it, arguments are pretty much par for the course.

What do you think - is this news or is this too close to a couple's personal lives? Please leave a comment and let WeddingMouth know.

Meanwhile, WeddingMouth would like to wish Brad and Angelina well. A little bit of compromise goes a long way. Remember - it isn't about winning, it is about love.

  • 007 to marry? 6643 views

    Wedding Path Newswire

Rumours are flying around that Wirral's finest Daniel Craig is to marry long time girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell. 40-year-old Craig plans to marry the 29-year-old film producer after the new 007 film ‘Quantum of Solace’ has finished shooting.

Satsuki has been seen wearing a Cartier ring - evidently a large diamond solitaire with a platinum setting. Of course we knew a diamond would be appropriate, after all Diamonds Are Forever (sorry, that really was dreadful). Evidently things haven't always been so rosy, Craig is alleged to have had an affair with Sienna Miller in 2005.

This will be Craig's second marriage, he has a daughter with his first wife, Scottish actress Fiona Loudon.

Craig, the 6th James Bond, may be lusted over by many but he isn't all he seems. Evidently he is a big fan of German heavy metal - and that's a deal breaker for me.

  • Paris Hilton engaged? 6044 views

    Wedding Path Newswire

Paris Hilton, the girl famous for having rich parents and absolutely no discernable talents of her own, has been spotted wearing a diamond ring from XIV Karats, a jewellery store in Beverly Hills. Rumour is that she is engaged to boyfriend Benji Madden from the band Good Charlotte. Paris has also been spotted with a 'B' pendant - which could be a 'B' for Benji.

That said, we all know Paris hasn't got a lot going on upstairs so there is a fair chance she bought the 'B' pendant thinking it was a 'P' for Paris. It does make a good story though as Paris' chum, Nicole Ritchie, just had a baby with Bejni's twin brother Joel.

I think this calls for some classic Paris Hilton quotes:

“Wal-mart... do they like make walls there?”

    “I don't really think, I just walk.”

    “Who are you wearing?”

“I'd imagine my wedding as a fairy tale... huge, beautiful and white.”

“All British people have plain names, and that works pretty well over there.”

    “What's a soup kitchen?”

  • Leap year weddings 12966 views

    Wedding Path Newswire

It's 'leap years day' and you know what that means! This is the day that tradition dictates a girl can ask her beau for his hand in marriage.  We are a little more modern now so you can ask him anytime - but today might be a fun day to do it.

The tradition is supposed to date from 5th century Ireland when St. Patrick fielded a complaint from St. Bridget about women having to wait for a man to propose. St. Patrick, being a man of action, changed the rules and decided that ladies could propose on the 29 February. He could of picked an easier date, like May 1st, but no he had to be sneaky!

In 1288 Scotland passed a law that allowed women to propose or any day of a leap year. The law also said that any man who declined a proposal in a leap year must pay a fine, ranging from a kiss to a silk dress or a pair of gloves.  I think we should stick to this agreement because I could do with a new pair of mittens (I would prefer woolly ones though).

WeddingPath asked 941 ladies "would you propose to your man":

    52% said 'no, a girl shouldn't'
    33% said 'yes, I would'
9% said 'yes, if it was a leap year'
6% said 'no, I am too shy'
