RECEPTION Summer Bunting 12574 views

Ideal for summer weddings and eco brides, Fairtrade certified organic cotton bunting will transform your reception venue and has plenty of feel-good factor.
Carolyn Whitwell, director of the Bishopston Trading Company, says: “People are increasingly concerned about how products are made and where they are made. Using ethical wedding bunting is great way to start married life and is proving to be a real talking point among wedding guests as well.”
The white bunting (£12.50 for a 15 metre long piece with 17 flags) has pretty applique hearts on each flag, giving it an extra summery and romantic look. The bunting comes from cotton which has been hand-woven in the village of K. V. Kuppam in Tamil Nadu which has a unique link with Bishopston. The cotton is certified as Fairtrade and is also organic which means it is kind to the environment.
The Bishopston Trading Company has four shops in the west of the country plus stockists across the UK and a mail order catalogue. To find out more call 0117 924 5598 or go to bishopstontrading.co.uk.

RECEPTION Paper Petals 11502 views

We know that WeddingPath brides are pretty handy at making favours and wedding invites. So here is a website we think you'll love. Make your own, or choose one of the ready-mades for little papery details.
Ann-Marie Edmondson has designed a gorgeous range of stationery, cards, favours, gifts and decorations for weddings, now available online at Natural Design. Perhaps best known for their paper petals, Ann-Marie supplied 300,000 petals for the film Alexander and also had her petals featured on Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire. Using Saa paper, derived from the bark of the mulberry tree, it is a great option for 'green' weddings.
A sustainable resource, the mulberry tree naturally sheds its bark 1-2 times a year and can therefore be made into a natural paper without destroying the tree. The pretty hand made and hand coloured petals are £6.95 for
200 - enough to scatter on three or four round tables. We also love these litte heart wreaths (around 25cm hight) made with hand made paper roses (£16.95) and these paper roses in mini terracotta pots (£3.50 each).
The little pots make great place settings or favours with a name tag attached.
For D.I.Y. brides, you can buy a range of individual stems, including these medium paper rose stems (£1.75) which look lovely placed on a napkin with a name tag. You'll also find pretty ribbons and little essentials such as dry oasis block and dried moss.

RECEPTION Will You Dance? 12736 views

WeddingPath's forum is buzzing with ideas for first dance music from favourite tunes to etiquette. So we know you are all going to love Shazam's latest survey on the nation's favourite 'first dance' songs.
New research released by Shazam, the world’s leading mobile to web music service provider, reveals the nation’s favourite wedding ‘first dance’ songs. Topping the chart is the classic love song, Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton followed by Angels by Robbie Williams in second place and You’re Beautiful by James Blunt coming a close third.
The survey was conducted in the UK amongst 16 – 64 year olds who were asked to pick ‘what would be their favourite song to have as their first dance at their wedding’, from the most popular romantic tracks, on Shazam’s 5 million strong database, compiled by thousands of music fans across the UK using Shazam to ‘ID’ their favourite tunes with their mobile phone.
While the top three songs may seem conventional choices to celebrate your first dance as man and wife, the poll also revealed some more interesting faves for the first dance with The Beatles’ classic In My Life in fifth place and Led Zeppelin’s All of my Love appearing in seventh, perhaps boosted by their recent sold-out live concert.
Will Mills, Shazam’s Head of Music said, “The poll shows how classic our music tastes are when it comes to that all-important first dance.”

RECEPTION D.I.Y. Stationery 14347 views

If you’re a bit handy with some ribbon and card and fancy making your own wedding invitations, you’re not alone. According to Alison Wren of Wedding Crafter, 39% of brides now choose to design their own stationery.

It’s not as difficult as it sounds – there are plenty of websites specialising in DIY stationery. One of our favourites is Wedding Crafter – as used by our resident bride-to-be, Cheryl.
“We spent ages looking for stationery that matched our green colour theme but couldn’t find anything so we decided to buy blank cards, inserts and envelopes from Wedding Crafter, and design them ourselves,” says Cheryl. “We printed the inserts at home and bought some pretty green ribbon to tie the cards with. We were really pleased with the finished invites and lots of people commented on how original they looked.”
As well as sample packs, Wedding Crafter also sells a unique “Design Your Own Wedding Invitations Kit” which allows brides to trial and select the ideal materials for their personal invitations. And with loads of step-by-step advice, as well as pretty embellishments and ribbons, it’s easy to add a personal touch to your invites and create truly memorable but professional looking stationery at a fraction of the cost.
