We talk to online travel experts, Key2Holidays about honeymoon trends for 2009. Anyone going on a 'dressmoon', country collecting or opting for a fly-drive adventure?
According to Key2Holidays, we have three big trends in store for the year ahead.
1) “Dressmoons”
Inspired by celebrity brides such as Katie Holmes and Liz Hurley who headed to Italy for their wedding dresses, Key2holidays predicts that more brides-to-be will travel abroad to find their dream dress on breaks identified as “dressmoons”. Italy, considered by many to be the spiritual home of fashion, boasts one of the most spectacular selections of wedding dresses in the world.

Key2holidays has seen a 50% growth in travellers choosing fly-drive holidays and this trend is expected to cross over to the honeymoon market in 2009 as couples increasingly seek the freedom of the open road for their trip of a lifetime. For the ultimate luxury, opt for a 5* fly-drive from Cape Town, following the Garden Route and finishing at the 5* Sanbona Wildlife Reserve for your chance to spot the ‘Big 5’.

3) Country-collecting honeymoons
“Country collecting” multi-centre holidays, which saw a massive rise in 2008, will remain a strong trend in 2009. Well-travelled Brits have become more adventurous, however the beach remains an important component with couples choosing to combine “chill out” beach time with a contrasting experience and destination offering unknown “off the beaten track” adventure, culture or city.
