    Chiara & Wayne
    25 May 2008

They Met Chiara and Wayne worked for the same company, but first met whilst watching a World Cup game at the pub. It was love at first sight, but Wayne waited for a truly romantic moment to pop the question on top of Mont Blanc.

Wedding Venue Chiara comes from Italy and the couple decided that it would be the perfect place to get wed. They chose a waterfront location, the 18th century Villa Rusconi Clerici on Lake Maggiore, as they loved the idea of having their ceremony and reception in one place. Not only this, but they loved the incredible view and the stunning mountains in the distance.

The Theme The couple decided to keep their wedding romantic and elegant, fitting in with the magnificent villa and scenery. The reception was held in a marquee in the garden with a view of the lake, and guests were greeted by an olive tree with hanging escort cards, acting as a seating plan. The tables were decorated with large candelabras surrounded by roses and the couple chose favours of small bottles of olive oil from Chiara’s hometown. They named the tables after famous mountains, a little reference to the mountain-top proposal.

What They Wore The bride looked gorgeous in an off-the-shoulder white dress with a lace bodice and full skirt. She teamed it with Gina shoes so that she could wear them again, along with a veil and roses in her hair. She accessorized with jewellery from Claire Yarwood-White and a cream parasol for when the drizzle came!

The groom wore a grey lounge suit, custom made by Oliver Woo, with a white shirt. He wore a tie of the same material as the bridesmaids’ dresses and a rose buttonhole, to match Chiara’s bouquet.

The bride had three teenage bridesmaids who wore custom made dresses in dusty pinks. The maid of honour wore a more grown-up version and they all had flowers in their hair. The groomsmen wore lounge suits with ties in the same fabric as the bridesmaids’ dresses.

The Cake The couple chose a large, tiered sponge cake, made by their caterers. It was decorated with white chocolate and surrounded by pretty hydrangeas.

The Flowers Chiara carried a romantic bouquet of roses in three different shades of pink, whilst the bridesmaids carried pomanders in two different shades of pink roses. The reception and Chuppah for the ceremony were decorated with pink roses and hydrangeas.

First Dance The happy couple danced to ‘I’ll be there’ by the Jackson 5 for their first dance. The music for the ceremony was provided by a Jewish band and the music continued for the reception with a rock band, giving a concert feel to the celebrations.

A Moment To Remember Chiara’s and Wayne’s most memorable moment from the wedding was their first dance as it was a chance to ‘relax and really enjoy being with each other’.

Honeymoon Chiara and Wayne spent their first night at the Grand Hotel Majestic, next door to the wedding venue, after their reception ended at 2am. The newlyweds then went on a beautiful honeymoon for a week-long safari in South Africa. They followed it up with ten days of relaxation on an island in Mozambique.

Any Advice? Chiara advises, ‘Enjoy yourself! Even if things don’t go as planned, you are usually the only person to notice.’ She also adds that if she could have done things differently then she would have ‘hired a good wedding planner to co-ordinate the day, to alleviate some of the stress.’ Finally she says that she couldn’t have lived without her fiancé at the time as, ‘he was so calming and reassuring’. It’s love!

    Janine & Glen
    27 September 2008

They Met Glen and Janine first met studying for the National Diploma in Art & Design where Janine was the new classmate. They hit it off and eleven years later Glen proposed at the top of the Empire State building in New York - Janine’s favourite city! And just to bowl her over even further, he had already arranged an appointment in Tiffany’s to choose an engagement ring!

Wedding Venue Janine’s older sister had had her reception at Tullyglass while her younger sister had tied the knot at Lissanoure Castle. Janine thought they were both fantastic venues and decided to get the best of both worlds. She chose to get wed at Lissanoure Castle and have her reception at Tullyglass in a beautifully decorated new suite there.

The Theme The couple decided to go for a timeless look, coupled with fun and personal touches. With the bridesmaids wearing classic black, there were strong splashes of colour with bright, zingy butterflies and flowers. The tables were decorated with tall candelabras entwined with ivy and large butterflies. And as favours, the couple chose coloured, swirled lollipops for the ladies with a name tag and poem attached, whilst the men received a badge from the British Heart Foundation.

What They Wore After working in the bridal industry for over ten years, Janine was privileged to get a bespoke gown made by Ian Stuart. She wore the dress of her dreams – a strapless gown with a bodice encrusted with diamante, pearls and crystals and a full skirt gathered to the hip with a corsage of flowers. She accessorized with comfy shoes from Rainbow, personalised with blue Swarovski crystal butterfly clips along with a coronet and veil finished with crystals. The bride changed in the evening to a floor-length, strapless gown with pearl detailing and a bubble veil.

The groom wore a classic black tuxedo, hired from Tweedy and Achesons Formalwear for the day. In the evening, Glen changed into a modern black kilt and accessories - much to the surprise of his Scottish family! He finished off the outfit with a single ivory rose as a buttonhole to match Janine’s bouquet.

The bride had three adult bridesmaids who wore black full-length gowns with black tie sashes. Janine’s junior bridesmaid wore a black tulle dress with a sash whilst the baby bridesmaid wore a mini version of Janine’s dress, made by the bride herself.

The Cake The couple opted for a big and colourful cake with seven tiers of cupcakes, topped with icing and brightly-coloured sprinkles. The top tier consisted of a cake decorated with bright pink icing with green and orange stripes, adorned with a large, black butterfly.

The Flowers Janine carried a bouquet of ivory roses, interspersed with diamante, whilst bridesmaids carried various flowers in pink, green, orange and yellow with an added black butterfly. The men wore buttonholes of bright flowers, matching those of the bridesmaids.

First Dance The loved-up couple danced to ‘Love Will Keep Us Alive’ by The Eagles. Music followed with a selection of songs from Sinatra to Snow Patrol, provided by a band called Backbeat.

A Moment to Remember The couple’s most memorable part of the day was when they made their entrance in the evening wearing their changes of outfit. Glen’s family were particularly proud and emotional to see him in the kilt and having two wedding dresses completed Janine’s dream day.

Honeymoon After spending their first night at the reception venue, the newlyweds moved to an airport hotel for their flight the next morning. They headed off to New York for a few days before going to Hawaii for a week and finishing up in Las Vegas for some serious fun, including a trip to the Cirque du Soleil. It gave the couple just what they wanted - some relaxation and time to spend with each other.

Any Advice? Janine’s advice is to ‘Enjoy every moment!’ She also suggests, 'Get away for a few days after the wedding, you will need and most definitely deserve the break.’ Whilst Glen says, ‘Have an input - it’s your day too!’ And he adds, ‘Be prepared for a lot of girls in your house drinking wine and planning the biggest wedding of the year!’

    Shadan & Stuart
    10 October 2008

They Met Stuart and Shadan met when Shadan had just relocated to London from Sydney. She had started at a new job where she met Stuart and a few weeks later she agreed to have a quick drink with him. Two years later Stuart proposed during a surprise shopping spree holiday in New York. He popped the question whilst sailing by the Statue of Liberty on a candlelit cruise, with a phone at hand so that Shadan could phone her parents!

Wedding Venue As a teenager Shadan had always dreamt of marrying in Curzon Hall in Sydney, Australia and after showing it to Stuart ten years later, they both fell in love with it and decided it was the place for them. They were enchanted by its historic charm and romantic feel, as well as the beautiful castle connecting them to England.

The Theme The couple decided not to have a set theme but made sure the day encompassed elegance with soft candlelight, flowing gowns and flowers. The table centres at the reception consisted of black wrought iron candelabras with a floral arrangement of deep pink roses, oriental lilies and Singapore orchids. They also placed disposable cameras on each table for guests and gave favours of silver chocolate hearts in white organza bags.

What They Wore The bride made a statement with her strapless, ivory A-line gown, with a soft organza and satin ruffled skirt and full train. She complimented it with a cathedral length veil with scattered diamante on, and drop crystal earrings and necklace with a chunky Swarovski ring. She finished her outfit with peep-toe, ivory heels from Dune.

The groom wore a black suit with an ivory raw silk cravat and matching waistcoat, accessorized with black and white brogues. The ushers wore the same, with suits hired in Sydney, along with some extra personalised socks and cufflinks!

The bride had three bridesmaids who wore full-length, light green gowns with a satin trim and small train. Each wore a large flower hair accessory, with simple pearl jewellery and an ivory lace parasol to hold.

The Cake The couple chose a two-tiered white and dark chocolate mud cake, with butter cream icing and lilies.

The Flowers Shadan carried a cascading bouquet of white oriental lilies, dusty pink rose blooms, Singapore orchids and trailing ferns and flax leaves. The reception was decorated with Dodda vines and clusters of lilies, rose blooms, orchids and foliage. The buttonholes were kept simple with single white roses.

First Dance The happy couple danced a traditional waltz to ‘Fields of Gold’ by Sting, followed by a Rock ‘n Roll rendition to ‘Do you Love Me?’ by The Contours. The music that followed was provided by Sydney band, ‘Band of the Giants’ with jazz and blues.

A Moment To Remember Shadan loved walking down the aisle with her father to the sounds of a Scottish piper and drummer, as well as his emotional speech later.

Honeymoon The newlyweds jetted off to Jamaica to a luxury couples-only resort called Couples Swept Away, located on a seven mile stretch of beach. They chose it as it was new for them both, all-inclusive and offered a diverse range of activites.

    Any Advice?
Shadan advises, ‘Be 110% sure and clear on whom you want supporting you on your big day and scrapbook all of your ideas.’ She also comments that she couldn’t live without, ‘Spreadsheets and two fabulous little online tools called weddingpath.co.uk and toptableplanner.com’

    Fiona & Mark
    25 July 2008

They Met Fiona and Mark met on a night out and knew that it was the 'real thing'. Mark proposed while they were on holiday one year in Luxor, Egypt. They were taking a hot air balloon ride at sunset when he popped the question. It was supremely romantic apart from they had an extra passenger, an old lady, positioned between them. But it did add a touch of humour!

Wedding Venue As soon as they got engaged, Fiona and Mark knew that they wanted to marry abroad. After scouring travel agents, a friend came up with the idea of Malta and arranged it for them. They loved the guaranteed hot weather, along with the great reputation of their hotel and easy access for their guests.

The Theme The couple wanted to keep the wedding relaxed, with an emphasis on the actual marriage, rather than the big day. They decided not to have a specific theme but both wore white, with guests wearing summer dresses and light clothes. They gave the women bowed fans for the ceremony, with green ribbon and labels with the wedding date on, as well as filled toy bags for the children. At their UK reception, they decorated the tables with pink cake stands filled with love hearts, jelly hearts and Hershey’s kisses from New York.

What They Wore The bride wore a beautiful floor-length, Grecian style dress by Jenny Packham on her big day. She teamed it with a borrowed veil with tiny pearl detailing, picking up on the pearls on her dress and tiara. She kept the jewellery simple with a Dior bracelet, which was a birthday gift.
The groom wore a white suit by John Francis Menswear, with a floral shirt by Marc Wallace, accessorized with brown shoes from Office and a white rose as a buttonhole.
Fiona had three bridesmaids who wore tea-length green dresses, cinched in at the waist with satin sashes. Their outfit was finished off with silver heels from Faith with diamante flower details. Mark’s two best men wore matching trousers from Ted Baker and different shirts with brown shoes.

The Cake The couple celebrated with two cakes, the first was a two-tiered fruitcake in Malta, decorated with white icing, made by the hotel. The second in Manchester was a topsy-turvy styled cake with pink, green and white icing, decorated with butterflies.

The Flowers The bride carried a white rose bouquet, with smaller versions for the bridesmaids. The reception and ceremony were decorated with a mixture of white summer flowers such as roses and gerbera.

First Dance The happy couple danced to ‘Some Kind of Wonderful’ by the Drifters, whilst the reception in Manchester was entertained by an Elvis impersonator and 80s music.

A Moment To Remember Fiona loved it when she walked down the aisle with her father, as well as seeing everyone who had come out to share their special day. She also found it very special meeting at the seafront for the ceremony!

Honeymoon After the reception ended, the newlyweds stayed in the Dragonara in Malta, spending their honeymoon in Malta. After the reception in Manchester they stayed in the Hilton Hotel in Deansgate.

Any Advice Fiona says ‘stay relaxed and remember why you are getting married - don’t lose sight of this!’ Mark adds, ‘remember that you have to get up for a special day and as tempting as it is, don’t drink too much the night before!’

    Helen & Tony
    4 July 2008

They Met Helen and Tony first got to know each other through work. After their first night out together, it didn't take long for them to realise they were made for each other.

Wedding Venue It was Helen and Tony’s dream to get married by the sea. When their wedding co-ordinator suggested Cyprus, they agreed it was the perfect place. Accessible for all of their friends and family, they held their reception at Atlantida Fish Restaurant in Paphos.
The Theme The couple opted for a simple and relaxed feel to the wedding with some tropical touches. The reception was decorated with cream and purple balloons and crisp white tablecloths - the spectacular view meant that little decoration was needed. The bright flowers added colour and some tropical vibes!

What They Wore The bride wore a strapless, A-line dress with a full skirt and bodice with pretty beading detail. Helen accessorized with a delicate tiara, matching the beads on her dress, as well as shoes from Next and jewellery from Jon Richards at Debenhams.

The groom looked smart in a black suit with an ivory cravat and waistcoat, with black shoes from Next. The best man wore the same, and both had a single purple flower as a buttonhole whilst the pageboys had a bright pink flower.

Helen had three bridesmaids, who wore strapless, purple gowns with floral embroidery, accessorized with matching crystal necklaces. The flower girl wore a simple white dress with matching shoes and a hairpiece to add a touch of sparkle.

The Flowers The couple chose to use artificial flowers for all of the bouquets and buttonholes, as Helen could tweak and change details whilst they were made. Helen loved her tropical and colourful bouquet, filled with zingy yellows, pinks and oranges. The bridesmaids carried smaller bouquets of dark orange and bright pink flowers with dark foliage.

First Dance The happy couple danced to ‘Amazed’ by Lonestar for their first dance, followed by a mixture of music, including some Motown.

A Moment To Remember The couple loved seeing each other at the end of the aisle, with Helen finding it particularly funny when her heels sunk into the grass as they were saying their vows.

Honeymoon After the party ended, the newlyweds headed for a hotel in Laura Beach for their first night. They decided to honeymoon in Cyprus as they wanted to be close to their sons, who were being looked after by Helen’s mother. They stayed at the Laura Beach Hotel for a week, followed by a stay at the Elysium.

    Any Advice
Helen decided that if she could do it again, she would choose her wedding co-ordinator very carefully, as a good relationship was needed for everything to go smoothly. She also commented that her bridesmaid Carly supported her through everything and that every bride needs a friend like her! Tony suggests, ‘Take control of some of the organising – I left a lot of it to Helen, which made her quite stressed near the time.’
