Allanah & Richard, 30th August 2008
richardandallanah.weddingpath.com

THEY MET The couple met in 2005 when they were both working weekends at Glyn Webb. They didn’t really speak to each other much until Richard asked to see Allanah's tattoo! They also went to the same college so were soon spending every day together. Just over two years later, Richard lit candles leading from the front door to the dining table. He had cooked a meal and went down on one knee with the ring. Allanah says, 'I cried and said yes.'
WEDDING VENUE They wanted to get married in a registry office. Leeds Town Hall was the obvious choice for them. They loved the grand architecture and it was well within their budget. And for the reception, they booked the nearyby John Smeaton Leisure Centre.
THE THEME The colour scheme was pink, ivory and silver. 'We didn’t have a theme as such but wanted to keep it fun and child-like as we are both big kids', says Allanah. There were lots of balloons, sweets, ice cream and even a bubble machine. The favours were pink and silver heart shape smarties in pink organza bags. Each guest also had bubbles in a
champagne shape bottle. And each table had a silver bucket filled with Haribo.
WHAT THEY WORE Allanah wore a satin wedding dress, called Lily by Nicholas Millington which she spotted in the Littlewoods catalogue. Her shoes were ivory with beaded detail and a kitten heel. And her tiara was an alice band style with pearls and diamante. She also wore a pearl necklace, earrings and bracelet all matching the headpiece. Richard wore a three-piece grey suit from Next with black shoes, a pink and cream tie, white and grey shirt and a pink rose button hole. Allanah's two bridesmaids wore 50’s style dusky pink, knee length tea dresses with matching
shoes and bags.
THE CAKE Richard's mother made the white-iced wedding cake with two stacked tiers. It was decorated in pink and white iced flowers with a bride and groom wedding topper as the finishing touch.
THE FLOWERS Allanah chose a simple but stunning bouquet of pink and cream roses tied together with an ivory ribbon. Each rose was finished with a pearl.
FIRST DANCE The couple danced for the first time as Mr and Mrs to Aerosmith's 'I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing'. The dancing and reception celebrations went on until midnight when the newlyweds left for Malmaison Leeds where
they spent the first night in The Depot Suite.
MOMENT TO REMEMBER The couple took time out from the wedding celebrations with a quiet moment alone in the park where they enjoyed eating '99ers'. 'The day was perfect', says Allanah
HONEYMOON The newlyweds spent a week in Morocco, staying in Marrakesh. They visited the Cascades of Ouzoud, Gardens of Marrakesh, local markets and also quad biking in the desert.
ANY ADVICE? Allanah says, 'Try not to let others interfere too much with your wedding day plans. On the day, if you and your husband are happy, then everyone else will be too.' Allanah adds, 'I could not have done without the girls on WP. They have always been there to give advise and offer support.'. Richard
recommends leaving the speech to the last minute, 'it really does work' he says, 'and get some jazzy socks.'

Lisa & Matt, 10 May 2008
lisaandmatt.weddingpath.com
They Met Lisa and Matt were a real-life ‘Gavin and Stacey’when they met on the telephone through work, sixteen years ago. Matt romantically proposed when he took Lisa away on a long weekend in the country, with the car already packed with everything they needed! Matt finally popped the question after a meal out, in the hot tub outside their log cabin set in the beautiful Griffon Forest.
Wedding Venue
The couple began to look for venues almost immediately and after trawling through many brochures, they decided to visit their shortlist of venues. First on the list was Crathorne Hall in Cleaveland, Yorkshire. Although they'd planned to visit other venues, they immediately fell in love with it - so much so that they decided to eat there and stay the night! They loved the idea of their family and friends staying with them for a wedding weekend in the warm and friendly atmosphere of the huge Edwardian house.
The Theme The couple chose a vibrant pink colour theme with big pink bows on the chairs and pink tea lights on the tables. Wanting a friendly and relaxed feel, the kids received a little gift each as well as being entertained by a magician. And instead of wedding favours, they sponsored two children in Africa, as related in little mock newspapers which also had a lonely hearts section and told guests about the video camera to leave the couple messages!
What They Wore The bride wore a stunning strapless dress, in iridescent pink from Quinns of Bawtry, teamed with a crystal necklace and a matching bracelet and earrings. The bride continued the pink theme with pink feathers for her hair as well as multi-coloured striped shoes from Paul Smith, reflecting her personality and love of unusual shoes!
The groom wore a black suit, with a white shirt and bright pink waistcoat and matching tie, hired from Formal Affair. In the evening, Matt changed his shirt into a black shirt, which brought
out the pink even more! The men wore buttonholes of petals of an African Protea - the bride’s flower- secured with pink wire and a crystal pin, to add a touch of sparkle.
The bride had three bridesmaids, her daughter, Makenna, her niece and her friend, who all wore ivory dresses from Quinns of Bawtry. The younger bridesmaids wore mini ‘wedding dresses’ with trains, whilst the elder bridesmaid wore a calf-length ivory dress with netting at the bottom, with an accessory of a crystal tiara each. The groom had two best men, his son and father, who all wore matching suits with shirts and ties as the groom. Everyone in the wedding party wore a shade of pink, adding a special touch to the day and keeping with the theme of pink.
The Cake After months of changing their minds, the couple eventually chose a four-tiered cake with the bottom and top tiers of fruit as well as two tiers of sponge in the middle, from Marks & Spencer. It was decorated with simple white icing as well as their florist adding a few finishing touches.
The Flowers The bride carried a unique bouquet of a large, pink African Protea with pink twigs, adding to the natural look. The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the pink African Protea with added thin green leaves. The table centres for the reception were also decorated with three pink Protea in tall vases, keeping with the theme.
First Dance The newlyweds danced to ‘Never Saw A Miracle’ by Curtis Stiger, with music continuing from Paul Martin, who sang swing and pop songs.
A Moment To Remember The couple loved having their guests for the whole weekend - from the barbeque on Friday to a falconry display on Sunday, as well as having beautiful weather throughout! Lisa also found a particularly memorable moment was her daughter, Makenna, doing a special surprise reading at the ceremony.
Honeymoon After the reception ended at three in the morning, with the party continuing in their suite, the couple spent their first night as a married couple in Crathorne Hall. For their honeymoon, they returned to Griffon Forest in Flaxton, staying at the same log cabin where Matt had proposed.
Any Advice Lisa advises to, ‘Try to be original. All our guests loved the unusual ideas and planning we’d taken time to do. And the most obvious, try and take it all in.’ Whilst Matt comments, ‘For me, having all our close friends and family around us was the key to this working as well as it did.’

Eve & Gavin
29 June 2008
They Met The couple first met in a bar in Bristol in 2003 when Eve was studying at Bath University. Things took off from that one drink together and Gavin proposed at 28 seconds to midnight on New Year’s Eve 2006. Poor Gavin was left in suspense for at least two minutes as Eve broke down in tears of emotion!
Wedding Venue After Eve and her mother scoured through hundreds of venues, they finally came across Halswell House and immediately fell in love with it! They liked the idea of friends and family being able to stay the night and making a weekend of it, as well as it being set in the gorgeous Somerset countryside with long, winding driveways and vistas all the way to Wales.
The Theme The couple chose a traditional country wedding theme to suit the setting, with the colour scheme of pearl and Wedgwood blue. They decided to concentrate on the little touches such as the white table linen with blue organza runners, as well as napkin rings made of the same organza ribbon with a pearl attached. They also made sure that the stationery matched their colour scheme, as well as favours of pocket mirrors in organza bags, filled with confetti, for the ladies, with luggage tags acting as place names. After an afternoon of cream tea and croquet on the lawn, the reception was held in the ballroom upstairs with a traditional hog roastL LED light balls created a relaxing atmosphere further enhanced by the courtyard outside that was filled
with lanterns.
What They Wore The bride wore a beautiful, white tulle ball gown with a corseted top and sweetheart neckline and a huge skirt, by Mori Lee. She accessorized with a four metre long veil, which her Mum made specially for her as well as pearl jewellery from Belgium and a pretty pearl hair slide. For the evening celebrations, Eve changed into a deep red fishtail gown from Karen Millen.
The groom wore a traditional tail suit with a black jacket and grey herringbone trousers, with a white waistcoat and cravat from Young’s Hire. He also wore a buttonhole of a simple white rose, with the groomsmen wearing the same but with blue cravats and handkerchiefs.
The bride had four bridesmaids, the eldest three wore full-length, blue
dresses with the youngest wearing a white dress and shrug from Debenhams. They teamed their outfits with matching headdresses of white and blue pearls with crystals, made by the bride. The couple gave the bridesmaids pearl jewellery with the groomsmen receiving matching cufflinks.
The Cake The couple chose a three-tiered cake with flowers between each layer, decorated with white icing and small pearl details. One layer was fruit cake, the next Madeira cake and the last, chocolate, all from Marks & Spencer.
The Flowers The flowers for the venue were all English country garden varieties, in shades of pale blue, purple and white, with the reception decorated with small bouquets in glass bowls, set on metal stands. For the bride’s bouquet, Eve wanted to capture the beauty of her parents' garden in the summer, choosing her favourite flowers of lisyanthus, roses, freesias, rosemary, thyme and lavender to make up a teardrop bouquet. The bridesmaids carried smaller hand-tied posies.
First Dance The newlyweds danced to Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, which was played by their six-piece band, Pondlife. They entertained the guests with music from the seventies to the 00’s, keeping them on the dance floor all night!
A Moment To Remember The couple found their hand-written vows especially emotional and moving, as well as reading them in front of all the people they really cared about. They also liked it when both Mums lit a candle in memory of those who were no longer with them, including the groom’s brother, as well as lighting a candle together symbolising the two families uniting.
Honeymoon After their reception ended at midnight, they stayed in the honeymoon suite at Halswell House. The couple then jetted off to spend a three-week honeymoon in Singapore, Bali and Lombok.
Any Advice? Eve says, ‘Think about the details, your guests will really appreciate it and the day will run much smoother.’ As well as commenting that, ‘WeddingPath’s forums were invaluable.’ Gavin suggests, ‘Don’t try to plan surprises for the bride, if she wants it she’ll try to plan it anyway and book it herself, ruining the surprise!’

REAL WEDDING Viva Las Vegas 10508 views

Alicia & Matthew
24th May 2008
They Met Alicia and Matthew met online in March 2004. Matthew was looking for a date to take to London Zoo and Alicia being new to London, wanted a friend. It turned out that they were working for the same company in offices across the road from each other! Romance flourished and Matthew popped the question one day over lunch in one of their favourite gastro-pubs from when they first started dating.
Wedding Venue Alicia had worked as a wedding co-ordinator for many years and so knew exactly what needed to be done!
They chose Las Vegas as their venue, because it was a halfway point between England and Alicia’s home country, Australia. The Bellagio Hotel was booked for their ceremony and reception, they loved the elegance of the Terrazza and the total elegance of the venue - quite unusual in Vegas!
The Theme The couple chose not to have a theme as such, with the beautiful backdrop of Las Vegas, little decoration was needed for their reception! They chose all the flower arrangements to be pink, with scattered rose petals at the ceremony and the reception. With five circular tables for their guests and one sweetheart table for the happy couple, pink flower arrangements were also created as table centres.
What They Wore The bride looked fabulous in an assymetric dress by Valentino, with lace detail and ruffles down the skirt, bought from Bond Street, London. She accessorized with shoes from Pura Lopez called ‘Inara’ and chose minimal jewellery apart from her engagement and wedding rings. The groom wore a grey tailor-made suit from Italian designer, Pal Zileri with a shirt and pale blue tie from Thomas Pink, finished off with shoes from Pied A Terre and a white buttonhole. The bride had her best friend, Kristina as her bridesmaid, who wore a short, bright pink fringed dress and peep-toe shoes from Salon Kitty. The groom’s best man, Adrian, wore the same as
Matthew.
The Cake Alicia designed the two-tier cake with the pastry chefs at the hotel. It had one square and one round layer of vanilla sponge with lemon cream and fresh raspberries, decorated with ivory ribbon and flowers as well as a sparkly cake topper of their initials, to add a touch of glamour.
The Flowers Setting the colour scheme for the wedding, the bride had a pink, hand-tied bouquet of stargazer lilies, orchids, roses and freesias, with the bridesmaid carrying a smaller version.
First Dance Although a keen ballroom dancer, Alicia was unable to convince Matthew, so the couple decided not have a first dance but lightened up the evening with jazz music instead.
A Moment To Remember Matthew was overwhelmed at the sight of Alicia coming down the stairs of the Terrazza with her father whilst Alicia loved the moment when they first kissed as husband and wife.
Honeymoon The couple spent their first night together at the Bellagio before jetting off to Jumby Bay Resort in Antigua for their honeymoon. Located on a private island off the mainland, they stayed in a luxurious 'rondavel' with an outdoor bathroom!
Any Advice Alicia advises, ‘Good planning is there so that you can forget about all the details on your wedding day and enjoy the day itself. It’s not something to get so involved in that you spend the day worrying about timing or whether it’s the right champagne.’ Matthew suggests, ‘Be as involved in the preparations as the bride wants you to be. They will probably have a much better idea of what they want than you will.’
