    Abbi & Philip
    26th July 2008

They Met Abbi and Philip initially met at university but later started dating after they bumped into each other at a friend’s leaving party. Philip romantically proposed after whisking Abbi off from work in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes to Regents Park where he proposed in the rose gardens.

Wedding Venue The couple began looking for a venue in May 2007 and after much scouring of the internet, found Frensham Heights in Surrey as their ideal venue. Not only did they like the staff but they were blown away by the stunning building, set in beautiful grounds with picturesque views of the Surrey downs.

The Theme The couple didn’t choose a specific theme but wanted the wedding to be minimalist with ivory tablecloths, napkins and chairbacks - school dinners set the theme for the food. Fish and chips were served, wrapped up in a replica ‘Hello!’ magazine cover featuring the couple, adding a special touch to the day. The tables were decorated with bowl table centres of pink and orange gerbera entwined with bear grass. The couple decided to name the tables after leading fashion designers with the top table called ‘Hermes’. A casino voucher was also given as a favour for the casino tables set up later!

What They Wore The bride looked stunning in a simple yet elegant draped dress with a brooch detail by Ben De Lisi. She accessorized with Jimmy Choo strappy shoes, pearl and diamond earrings and a drop diamond pendant necklace as well as two fuschia gerbera in her hair. After the meal, Abbi changed into a strapless Chloe dress with some strappy silver wedges, perfect for dancing!

The groom wore a charcoal-coloured suit with a matching waistcoat from Hugh Harris, with a white shirt and Paul Smith stripy tie, matching the flowers. He also wore black Oliver Sweeney shoes and a pink gerbera as the buttonhole.

Philip’s ushers and best man wore the same suit with the best man wearing the same tie whilst the ushers wore a dark mauve tie. Abbi’s bridesmaids wore mauve dresses from Jigsaw with their own silver shoes and sweet pink hairclips from Accessorize.

The Cake The couple chose a tower of cupcakes with alternating pink and orange gerbera as their wedding cake, made by Cakes and Drapes. They also made two special gluten-free cupcakes for Abbi!

The Flowers Abbi held a bouquet of a stunning and exotic mix of pink and orange gerbera with pink pineapples, palm leaves and a touch of lime. The venue was decorated with three main pedestal arrangements as well as two bay trees at the entrance, which were interwoven with gerbera.

First Dance The couple danced as husband and wife for the first time to ‘You Do Something To Me’ by Paul Weller. The music for the evening was provided by a pianist called Richard Simmons who played a selection of jazz, swing and current music.

A Moment To Remember Abbi loved Philip’s speech. She felt especially proud when he spoke of such fondness for her mother, who had passed away seven years ago, and didn’t even meet Philip.

Honeymoon The newlyweds spent their first night at the Mercure Bush Hotel in Farnham before jetting off to the beautiful island of Barbados for ten days' honeymoon bliss. The couple enjoyed a relaxing break filled with delicious food and picture-perfect beaches!

Any Advice Abbi advises: ‘Try not to let the wedding become stressful, it is very easy to get carried away by detail, and that can stop you enjoying what the day actually is – a celebration of togetherness.’ Whilst Philip suggests, ‘Do get involved with all of the preparations, it’s actually far more of a rewarding process than you initially might think!’

    Sarah & Damon
    26 April 2008

They Met Sarah and Damon first met at a 'cheesy' nightclub in Newcastle-under-Lyme called Maxim’s. It was love at first sight and before too long, Damon had a romantic proposal planned. He proposed to Sarah on Christmas day with a game of Pass the Parcel.

Wedding Venue Damon and Sarah began looking for their venue in early 2004. They searched through wedding magazines as well as the Internet, before finding their perfect venue, Birkhill Castle in Cupar, Fife. It ticked all of their boxes and was very flexible to their wants and needs.

The Theme The couple wanted to keep their wedding simple and elegant with a colour scheme of pale green and cream. With the reception overlooking the River Tay, they decorated the tables with small vases of flowers to match the bouquets as well as gold favour bags. The men were given mini personalised bottles of whisky whilst women were given sparkling wine. As an extra special touch, their two dogs were amongst the wedding guests - making it truly personal - and even attended the ceremony!

What They Wore The bride looked gorgeous in a strapless ivory dress by Bows & Bells in Kirkclady, accessorized with shoes from Next and a tiara from Aliya Rose in Cupar, and veil as well as a pearl necklace from Pretty Things in Perth.

The groom hired a Berlin Brocade Prince Edward jacket with a matching waistcoat and black herringbone trousers from Slaters in Dundee. He also wore a mint ruche and a matching handkerchief with a buttonhole.

The bride also had a matron of honour who wore a floor-length, strapless, pale mint green dress by Mori Lee with matching shoes.

The Cake The couple chose a two-tiered cake with the bottom layer of chocolate fudge cake and the top layer of lemon sponge, made by Oh Crumbs. It was decorated with ivory icing and three iced roses as the topper, along with cascading pearls down the side to match the bride’s jewellery.

The Flowers The bride carried a bouquet of cream roses and cream feathered tulips with bear grass threaded through, with the matron of honour carrying an identical bouquet as well as the reception being decorated with the theme blooms. The groom wore a buttonhole of a cream rose, to match the bouquet.

First Dance After dance lessons, the couple had perfected their routine to Better Together by Jack Johnson for their first dance as husband and wife. The music continued through the evening with Eros Ramazzotti playing.

A Moment To Remember Sarah loved the ceremony most of all because it was so emotional and personal with a highlight being a traditional Scottish hand fasting when a male and female from both sides of the family tie a knot around the couple. Another memorable moment was the Reverend performing a magic trick right at the end of the ceremony!

Honeymoon The newlywed couple spent their first night at Birkhill Castle, after their reception ended at one thirty. They then went to the beautiful island of Mauritius for their perfect honeymoon.

Any Advice? Sarah advises, ‘Decide on a budget early on and stick to it. Remember it is your wedding and you can’t make everybody happy, so just make sure that you two are. It doesn’t have to be expensive to be a fantastic day.’ While Damon suggests staying calm.

They Met It was in March 1997 at a local nightspot when Lynette mistook Patrick for someone else! It was only when they met for the second time that Lynette realised her mistake. But that didn’t stop them getting together...Patrick proposed when buying a ring. Lynette was completely taken by surprise as she thought it was for her birthday.

Wedding Venue The couple had a civil ceremony and reception at the Mecure St Pauls Hotel and Spa in Sheffield City Centre. They chose the venue for its gorgeous setting with the Winter Gardens at the back and the peace gardens and fountains at the front.

The Theme Lynette choose an all white and diamond theme with just a touch of blue. She made all the table stationery and favours herself. Each table was named after a precious stone and each guest had a photo of themselves when they were younger marking their place name.

What They Wore Lynette wore a pure white Maggie Sottero gown with a sweetheart neckline from Tickled Pink in Doncaster. "I said I would never go for it, but it was the last dress I tried on after about 15 shops and over 75 dresses. My 7 year-old niece pulled it out. It had just come into the shop and the assistant said she'd not seen anyone in it yet. So I gave it a try and I loved it ! The best part was my budget was £2000 and the dress was only £650!" Lynette's two adult bridemaids (hers and Patrick's sisters) wore fabulous willow blue dresses by Dessy. "Because my theme was white and diamonds, I wanted to add a touch of colour. Patrick's football club, Sheffield Wednesday, is blue and white. At first I thought blue was too dull but then I saw these fabulous dresses in a shop called Christine Wales in Kiveton. Sheffield. They were £200 each but the colour was gorgeous and the fabric had a shimmery sheen so fitted in with my sparkly theme." The two flower girls (Lynette's nieces aged 7 and 19 months) wore white organza dresses made to fit by designer Daniella Lara in Sheffield and little blue handheld basket of flowers to match the adult bridesmaids.

Patrick and the groomsmen, including his best friend Simon who was the best man, hired dark navy suits from Greenwoods Mens Hire in Barnsley with white shirts, pale silver waistcoats and slate grey shimmer cravats.

    The Cake
"We chose House of Cakes to make our dream wedding cake. We also had a taste session which I highly recommend." Each of the three layers was a different flavour, including Madeira, lemon and the top tier as traditional fruit. Iced in white with little hearts, silver ribbon and diamante trim, glass vases with tealights separated each layer. And as the finishing touch, a Swaworksi crystal cake topper was made in their initials with a heart.

    The Flowers
Lynette had wanted tropical blooms to tie in with the Winter Gardens at the venue, but in the end settled for a bouquet of white orchids with monstera leaves and china grass, dotted with diamante sprigs and two Swarovski crystal initials attached to the stems bound with blue fabric to match the bridesmaids's dresses. Similar flowers were chosen for the tables along with candelabra. "As a special thanks to all my friends I had six wrist corsages in the theme flowers on a silver wristband. They were all given out before the ceremony to mark my friends who I would have had as bridesmaids if budget had allowed."

    First Dance
The newlyweds started by dancing to Amazed by Duncan James before breaking into a surprise six-piece choreographed dance. Click the YouTube link to see the real thing.

    Louise & Alan
    4 May 2008

They Met The couple first came in contact when Alan messaged Louise on the website faceparty. As they were both living in Northampton, they met up! After three years together, Alan proposed in their favourite local restaurant Buddies. Louise says, 'the staff were so chuffed they presented us with a special dessert decorated with a sparkler!'

    Wedding Venue
Alan and Louise started looking for a venue in their local area straight away. They both agreed The Atrium at Whittlebury Park was best. It was close to the church, had plenty of room, looked stunning and was right for the budget. It also offered a room for Louise's Dad to take a nap halfway through the day - which he did!

The Theme Lilac and silver set the colour theme for the day. As a special touch, the couple had a wishing well (the guests were informed beforehand). And the tables were named after the couple's favourite computer games. Top table was named The Sim's with a picture of the couple at Buddies on the night they got engaged.

    What They Wore
Louise wore an Ellis Bridal Dress in ivory crushed taffeta with hand made hair accessories and jewellery from Brides of Wellingborough. Her shoes were an eBay purchase, for just £20. Alan had a traditional grey morning suit with an ivory waistcoat and lilac cravat, hired from Warwicks in Wellingborough. The two bridesmaids, Helen (the bride's sister) and best friend Bethan wore lilac dresses. With Bethan being 22 weeks pregnant, it was lucky that Helen was a fashion graduate and was able to make their dresses. Although she was still finishing Bethan's at 1.20pm on the wedding day! To complete the entourage, young bridesmaid Harriet wore an ivory dress from Bhs and flowergirl Darcy wore an ivory dress from Next.

The Cake Louise’s Mum made the cake. it was a square white cake, with two tiers of sponge and on of fruit. 'We decorated the cake with lilac ribbon and lilac butterflies', says Louise.

The Flowers Louise carried a posy of purple tulips and white roses by Kiktas Kreations with the bridesmaids holding smaller versions. Alan's Mum and sisters decorated the church while at the reception, purple and cream tulips were placed in funky square vases bought from IKEA.

First Dance The newlyweds danced to Jack Johnson - Better Together. They were meant to be showered with an exploding balloon - but the 'popping device' (a stick with a pin on the end) was mislaid!

    A Moment to Remember
'Saying our vows in the church and cherishing every moment!', says Louise.

Honeymoon The couple spent their first night in a luxurious suite with a Jacuzzi at the Whittlebury Hall Hotel. 'The room was bigger than our house', laughs Louise. And for the honeymoon, the couple headed to the Riviera Maya in Mexico - it was the perfect honeymoon choice.

Any Advice 'Do as much as possible at the start when are still excited and motivated. Don’t leave things til the last minute, get everything finished so you can enjoy the lead up to the wedding without panicking', says Louise. And Alan adds, 'Don’t worry about your speech, no matter what you say, everyone seems to love it!'

    Colette & Paul
    26 April 2008

They Met Colette and Paul met over the internet and chatted nearly every night for six months before meeting up. The rest, as they say, is history when Paul got down on one knee and proposed one weekend when he was visiting Colette.

Wedding Venue Paul and Colette started looking for their perfect venue two years before their wedding and eventually found Greenhill Hotel in Cumbria. It was ideal as they could marry and have their reception in the same place and they loved the fact that it had a homely and relaxed atmosphere but was at the same time elegant.

The Theme Paul had decided that he wanted to wear a brown suit which set the colour themes of brown, gold, cream and ivory.

What They Wore The bride wore a gorgeous ivory dress by Hilary Morgan, with gold and cream embroidery, and a touch of sparkling crystals as well as a long train, which could be hitched up, creating a bustle. The bride accessorized with a full crown tiara of diamante and pearls as well as dotted crystals and diamantes in her hair and a necklace and earrings to match.
The groom wore a brown pinstripe suit by Jasper Conran, with a white shirt and a champagne and gold coloured waistcoat with a matching cravat, along with brown shoes from the Officers Club. The groom chose a buttonhole of a large silk carnation with brown foliage, tied with a gold ribbon.
The bride had one bridesmaid who wore a champagne coloured dress with a buttoned back, to match the bride, as well as gold shoes and a gold bangle as a gift from the couple.

The Cake The couple chose a four-tiered cake with two layers of sponge, one layer of chocolate and the other of traditional fruit cake, arranged in a staggered display and decorated with cascading flowers from top to bottom. The cake was made by the bride’s mother who also provided the stand.

The Flowers The bride carried a bouquet of silk flowers consisting of cream gladioli, carnations and roses, interspersed with brown and gold foliage as well as small gold cala lilies with diamante centres. The bridesmaid carried a smaller replica, while flowers at the venue were made up of carnations, roses, baby’s breath and lilies, as well as brown thistles to tie in their Scottish connection - all arranged by Colette’s mother.

First Dance The newlywed couple danced to All I Have by Beth Neilson Chapman just as 14 huge party poppers showered them with streamers - a surprise organised by 14 family members. The dancing continued with a DJ who provided music and singing - and even dressed up as Darth Vader at one point!

A Moment to Remember Colette loved their first dance as husband and wife, as she felt really special to be dancing in front of all of their family and friends with her new husband, as well as the party poppers adding an extra touch of romance.

Honeymoon The couple spent their first night in the hotel where they got married, afterwards going on a two week Mediterranean cruise for their honeymoon, visiting the beautiful Naples, Rome, Cannes, Barcelona and Tunisia.

Any Advice Colette comments, ‘I was always told that the day passes very quickly, so I was ready for this and tried to take everything in. I also held back on the alcoholic drinks - as it is easy to get carried away with the celebrations.’ As well as suggesting to, ‘Have a strong, reliable person to help with the planning. It helps to have someone other than the groom to bounce ideas off.’
