Blogger Bride I 1581 views

When Emma got engaged on Valentine's day earlier this year, she decided to keep a blog and has joined WeddingPath to give us a weekly rundown on her wedding planning.
February 14, 2009. This was the famous day in romantic Paris when, following nine years of having (an albeit rather wonderful) boyfriend, I was finally rewarded with a fiancé!
I’m not a Bridezilla by any means. But to be honest, you do get to a certain age when saying ‘boyfriend’ really doesn’t sound right. ‘Partner’ sounds like you’re in a lesbian relationship (which is great if you’re in one, but I’m not!). I’m definitely looking forward to calling Brandon my ‘husband’.
The ‘wife’ part of the deal is me, Emma, a.k.a. The Sunshine Bride. I’m a 31-year-old PR consultant from Reading, for whom I guess all this planning business should come naturally. But I have to admit I’m rather scared about the whole thing!
Rather than panic, I have started writing a blog about my exploits as a bride-to-be, and will be including a weekly round up here of the best – and the worst – of the latest developments in my wedding plans.
We have a half-squinty eye cast on May 2010 as the likely month for the big event. But there are a number of challenges to be overcome before we’re even in a position to send out our ‘save-the-dates’. First, is navigating the English marriage laws which so far have caused problems in finding a suitable place where the wedding itself can actually happen!
Catch up with me here next week to find out if we’ve even managed to jump the first hurdle and sort out the venue! -

Fun at the show! 1742 views

Charlotte won tickets on WeddingPath for the National Wedding Show and has come back to tell us all about it - yes, she found her dress!

With an August 2010 wedding booked at the National Trust Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire, Charlotte was delighted to win our competition last month for tickets to the NEC
Birmingham show. Having her venue sorted and a marquee arranged in a friend's farm, Charlotte also had caterers, bar and photographer booked. A theme was set too with 10 vintage steam traction engines including her 1937 family
10-ton steam roller, Chichester! Both families being steam-engine mad, Charlotte and husband-to-be James, had to have them in the wedding plans. When the show day arrived, Charlotte arrived with her mother at opening time and spent a few minutes pouring over the programme to make sure they didn't miss anything. Charlotte's mother Pamela says, "Charlotte hadn't tried on any dresses so the show was a fantastic opportunity to pick out some ideas and styles. She tried on several and rejected them then happened to mention Essence to one stallholder who was able to show her some of the range. Charlotte's sister, Emily had worn an Essence dress for her wedding and Charlotte loved the look. When Charlotte tried the dress on we both started crying, and with a reaction like that, knew it was THE one!"
Charlotte knew “The Boys” could be a problem - especially when James said the night before that he could pick something up a couple of weeks before the wedding. Hmmm! So Charlotte and her mother gathered armfuls of brochures from Formal Affair, Moss Bros, Slaters and Youngs. They also found an inspiring collection of gifts for the groom to buy for his men at CantGetEnoughGifts.
Wedding magazines were another good trawl for Charlotte and Pamela with all the latest issues at a reasonable price. They also spent time looking at flowers, thinking about the style of bouquet and were delighted to chat about flower preservation at The Flower Preservation Studio. Finally, they stopped by at the Denby stand which had a wonderful display of their latest James Martin range. James and Charlotte's engagement canteen of cutlery was purchased at Denby so they were able to begin thinking about which dinner service they would like - Caramel anyone/
"We spent time with numerous other stallholders. Everyone was so professional and friendly, they made a great day absolutely FANTASTIC" says Pamela, "Thank you so much for the lovely prize."
