If you haven't bought a pink ribbon or had time to spare a thought for Breast Cancer month yet, it is not too late. Why not get together with the girls and celebrate as best hens do with a Pink Your Party.
All you need to do is have a party, turn it pink and at the same time you'll be raising funds for vital breast cancer research. M&S is supporting the event and has lots of fabulous products in-store to help make your pink party go with a swing, from chocolate lollies to pink pyjamas, each carrying a 10% donation to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. It is also offering a £1000 spending spree to the top fundraiser - before 9th January.
Tons of celebrity experts are supporting the campaign, including Colin and Justin who are here on WP to give their top five pink party tips:
1. Pick a theme you can really go to town with and make your event as visually fabulous as possible to get everyone in the mood to party! A pink party gives you options to be extravagant so opt for pink balloons, cushions, glitter, crockery and napery to properly pick up on the colour scheme. Try wedding stores such as Confetti for great quirky accessories and table dressing. Cue glitter, streamers and all manner of fun bits and bobs!
2. Be uber on-trend for 2008 and throw a Burlesque party with pink lighting, boas, fans and gloves. Or, for a pink tea party, create a kitsch look and dress your dining table with pink china, cute paper doilies and napkins, and cake stands filled with cupcakes, strawberries and smoked salmon sandwiches. Gorgeous!
3. Make your own retro bunting! Be inspired by street parties and cut out triangles of brightly coloured fabrics and attach in a long row to contrasting pink ribbon. To save time, use pinking scissors to avoid sewing or fraying. Hang jauntily around your room to create a fabulous party feel!
4. To create an element of surprise, dress different spaces within your party to suit different activities or moods. For example, create a chill out zone or pamper room with low lighting and lots of gorgeous pink throws and cushions. You might even like to hire a beauty therapist, hair stylist or make up artist to indulge your guests! Alternatively, create a disco room with lots of space for guest to mingle and strut their stuff and a pink feasting area with pink nibbles and drinks.
5. Homemade elements such as invites or name places show a lot of thought and are memorable touches - you could even personalise them with pictures of your guests. Homemade decorations can make a real impact too - for a stunning centrepiece a glass bowl filled with water, pink flower petals and floating candles will look seriously funky.
